| CREW POSITIONS |

Crusader Live members have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of production roles.  Not every event will be staffed with all roles and certain roles require a certain amount of previous experience.  Below you can learn about some of the roles that Crusader Live members may experience.

MANAGEMENT POSTIONS

*Interview and/or prior experience required

*Student Technical Director: Works closely SFS Theatre Staff to assist in overseeing all technical aspects of an event including the set and managing the tech crew. Requires quite a lot of time and commitment in addition to scheduled rehearsals, including attending regular production meetings.  The Student TD is responsible for generating & maintaining production paperwork.

Student Assistant Technical Director: Shadows and assists the Student Technical Director in overseeing set responsibilities and tech crew and learn the responsibilities of the Student Technical Director. Requires quite a bit of time and commitment in addition to scheduled rehearsals, including attending regular production meetings. The Student ATD is responsible for assisting the Student TD in maintaining production paperwork.

*Stage Manager: Works closely with the production Director and the SFS Theatre Staff. Attends ALL rehearsals for the duration of the production. Records all actor blocking, set changes, technical cues, calls cues during performances, and more.

*Assistant Stage Manager: Works closely with the production Director and SFS Theatre Staff, as well as shadowing the Stage Manager.  Attends ALL rehearsals for the duration of the production. Assists the Stage Manager in taking blocking/line notes during rehearsals. Helps coordinate scene changes during performances.

BOOTH POSITIONS

*Requires previous experience

*Lighting Programmer / Operator: Focuses lights, programs light cues, and operates the lighting console during rehearsals and performances. 

Lighting Assistant: Helps focus lights and program light cues. Shadows the Lighting Programmer / Operator to learn his/her responsibilities.  May operate lighting console during performances. 

Spotlight Operator: Operates and maintains the spotlights. Also helps to focus lights..

*Sound Programmer / Operator: Obtains sound effects, programs QLab software, operates the sound console (microphones and/or sound effects) during performances. 

Sound Assistant: Helps with Sound Programmer / Operator to obtain sound effects, program QLab, manage & operate microphones used during performances. Shadows the Sound Programmer / Operator to learn his/her responsibilities.  May operate sound console during performances, but normally works backstage as a microphone technician. 

BROADCAST POSITIONS

*Requires previous experience

*Video Director / Switcher Operator: Sets up cameras, prepares video switcher & recorders, and either directs or operates the video switcher during rehearsals and performances.  Communicates with camera operators what shots to look for and provide feedback on framing, exposure, focus, etc.  

Video Assistant / Camera Operator: Helps set up cameras and other video equipment.  Operates cameras during rehearsals and performances according to the direction of the Video Director / Switcher Operator.  May also manage broadcast feeds and virtual audience feedback during performances. 

*Broadcast Sound Operator: Operates the broadcast sound console during performances to mix the audio feed being sent to event broadcasts. 

Broadcast Sound Assistant: Helps the Broadcast Sound Operator to operate the sound console during performances and shadows the Broadcast Sound Operator to learn his/her responsibilities.  

STAGE POSITIONS

*Requires previous experience

Stage Crew: Performs scene changes during performances. Helps maintain cleanliness and safety of the stage. Helps with other production tasks as necessary.  

OTHER POSITIONS

*Requires previous experience

House Manager: Coordinates and trains ushers, manages audience issues, and helps run the box office. Attendance is only required on performance nights but may attend rehearsals as often as desired.

Ushers: Takes tickets and hands out programs at all performances. Assist House Managers with any audience issues. Attendance is only required on performance nights but may attend rehearsals as often as desired.

Box Office Assistant:  Helps run the box office.  Attendance is only required during scheduled dates.

Carpenter: Helps in the scene shop with the construction and finishing of stage sets and set props.  Works closely with the Set Designer, Student Technical Director and Student Assistant Technical Director to ensure that stage sets and set props are completed as designed and within the production schedule.
